Honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast: the Definitive Guide 2026

Pillow & Passion 8 min read April 2026

Lemon groves cascading to the sea, flowered terraces, white boats on the Tyrrhenian blue. The Amalfi Coast is Italy at its most intense.

The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's most sought-after honeymoon destinations. Fifty-two kilometres of vertical coastline between Positano and Vietri sul Mare, with villages clinging to rocks, fragrant lemon groves and a sea of a blue that seems invented. For a honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast, choosing the right hotel is everything — because here the experience is lived primarily from the terrace or window of your suite.

When to Go

  • May–June: the perfect time. Lemon groves in bloom, sea already swimmable, crowds not yet arrived. Highly recommended.
  • September–October: still warm, perfect sea, crowds decreasing. Terraced flowers at their most beautiful in September.
  • July–August: avoid if possible. Beautiful but congested, sky-high prices, impossible bookings. If you must go, book 8-12 months ahead.

Must-Have Honeymoon Experiences

  • Private boat to hidden caves — Hire a gozzo with skipper for a full day: Grotta dello Smeraldo, inaccessible beaches, snorkelling in crystal waters, fresh fish lunch on board. From €300/day.
  • Private dinner in Ravello — The gardens of Villa Cimbrone at sunset overlook one of the world's most beautiful panoramas. Some hotels organise private garden dinners. Unforgettable.
  • Cooking class with Amalfi lemons — The sfusato lemons are DOP-certified. A private class learning pasta al limone and delizia al limone is a wonderful memory.
  • Path of the Gods hike — The coast's most romantic trek: 7 km from Agerola to Positano with breathtaking views. End with a sea swim and aperitivo overlooking Positano.
